So I’m new to DT and I have an SRS A1 that is failing to eject brass. It will extract the case from the chamber but leaves the case laying on top the other rounds in the mag.

Talked to a buddy that has one and he said it likes being ran a little hard and may be the ejector spring that’s gone bad. Just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue and what the fix was.

Check to see if any brass marks on knobs.
Also check ejector movement. There may be some brass shavings thathave worked there way into it.
Can you remove the ejector and spring to clean the hole. Just a thought.

I’ll check. It feels like it’s not binding, but not near the tension of my Curtis or other rifles. A buddy said the springs need to be replaced ever so often and another said the bolt has to be racked hard. I don’t know. Just seems like the spring should last longer and you shouldn’t have to rack the hell out of it just for it to eject.

I’ll try replaced the ejector spring and racking the hell out of it to see what it does.

Ya, that is odd then. I’ve run nearly every brand of 6.5C through my SRS, even cheap Russian metal and it runs it all

Yeah, I’m new to them. This one probably has 800 rounds on it. I just didn’t know if there was a known issue or fix or if I got a fluke.

If you clean it just swab it out. Oil will attract dirt and the brass shavings and could draw some shavings into the ejector pin and spring.
The Remington 700 was notorious for that problem. Also check the bolt face and for shavings if they are there they may constrict the brass from being ejected out.
Also I watched a video of the rifle being fired they guys seem to run the bolt average.

The 308 bolts are pretty lazy about ejecting brass but I'll bet the ejector spring is shot in yours. Make sure the extractor is clean and moving freely. That makes a difference also in my experience.

A big difference I noticed was when I was neck sizing only I had average ejection , once I started bumping back the shoulders ( FLS ) the ejection picked up .

That’s what I’m leaning towards. It feels really weak when you hook a round in the extractor and push back on the ejector. I thought maybe it was dirty and hanging up but it wasn’t. I’ll try the spring.

What I don't understand is that these rifles are field type rifles.
Why do they put a weak spring in the ejector system that's is known to fail. Do you need to carry a spare parts kit to make it work in the field.
800 rounds shot the system has a very weal link.
In real life it doesn't look good.

It’s a desert tech. They are known for having issues lol. If you want dead nuts reliable get an AI. If you like a compact bull pup that can go from 223-338 but can be finicky get a DT.

AI is a nicer rifle but DT is a lot nicer for vehicular work and the accuracy is greater or equal to AI. The barrel change is superior in a DT

I agree. For as much as they cost you’d think an ejector spring would last a little longer. ??‍♂️ But as deersniper said, I think each system has its pros and cons.

83Scout - I bought a used SRS A1 and have the exact same problem. Mine is in 300WM. Haven't had time to address the issue because I just completed a cross-country move and the rifle has been in storage. Will try giving it a thorough cleaning, but am thinking it's probably the ejector spring. Please keep us posted on what solves the problem for you because I think we have the exact same issue.

Update: My buddy had a couple springs laying around and I popped one in and fixed it right up. Now she’s gtg. Crazy a $5k rifle is taken down by a damn $.50 ($7 through DT) spring.

I have on test old SRS-A1 in 308win.
Also sloppy d..k brass kicking out.
For you, as a owner, you might want to look these.

On my video, you may see some of the cases coming out like it should be, but some are like not.

Extractor and ejector spings should be change to new ones, and maybe but the whole shit on to a ultrasonic cleaner, then use a good gun oil, but only slightly and put the parts back, should work.
