Alright, so its time to just finally do it.

Rifle is a Rem700 .308 in a Bell and Carlson Medalist.

I know that Badger is the popular choice and I know they are quality.

I've also been eyeballing the Seekins setup with the AI mags but haven't heard much feedback. I dropped Glenn an email last week about it but no response yet. The side button mag release is appealing as the badger lever looks like it could be an issue. I can also appreciate all the good positive things you hear about Seekins anything.

Is there any others I should be looking at? Is it gonna be a hard install to do myself or should I pay someone to do it?

THanks in advance.

Re: Detach mag options???

I can tell you that the Seekins is a very good system. I spoke to Glen today and he's been traveling and hasn't seen his e-mails yet. He'll be back in the shop tomorrow.

Kevin Wyatt is doing a good system that is a drop in for Remington style inletting and it uses his own magazine, not the AICS.

I've also used Badger and Surgeon, both of which are very good. They're not drop in replacements so will require a little work....

Re: Detach mag options???

Well I tried calling Seekins today with no answer so I assume he's still busy. I'm gonna give it a couple days to see if I hear from him. I'd really like to give his system a try but no way to order it or know if it is even available.

Re: Detach mag options???

I like the looks of the Seekins setup and will probably give it a shot on one of my next builds. I've got a Surgeon DBM in an HS Precision stock and it took a fair amount of work to get it in there. I cut the inlet on a table top milling machine and even with that it was a solid few hours of work getting it fit up the way I wanted it. Truth be told, if I were to do it again, I'd gladly pay someone. That said, I'm very happy with it now that it's in there.

Re: Detach mag options???

Give Jeff at CDI Precision a call. He did my bottom metal a few weeks ago. I am very happy with the results.

Re: Detach mag options???

Hi if you are looking at a manners stock he will have the inley done and it will be perfect. Out of the ones i have inleter the Seekins seem to be the best to inlet as the sides are square and the steps from the front and rear are paralell just droped to a different depth.

Of the units mentioned they will all work but the CDI would be on the lower end of my choice.

I dont know how far the AI mag system from Glen will be but with the new 10 shot Morta mags would be a great system.

Saying that the 5 shot 308 mags glen makes are great to use.

Re: Detach mag options???

I had an A-5 inletted for a Seekins SA DBM straight from McMillan. His proprietary 5 round magazines have functioned fine for me, albeit in limited use...

Re: Detach mag options???

Another design of the Seekins DBM will use AI mags

Is that currently available or in the works?

Glenn,

Any more info on this? Any idea when these will be available? I'm ready to do something now but can't seem to find any info on if your system is available or when it may be. I really want to give it a try but not sure if I should wait it out, how long I'll have to wait it out, or what to do.

Re: Detach mag options???

Sorry guy, but i learned my lesson long ago about saying when somehting will be completed. Its not as easy as just building it. Lots of testing to do as well. The 10 aics mags i have here are almost .020 different from one to the other. Too many variables to say when it will be good to go. My goal was 2 weeks ago..
