I am looking at a new short action Savage build and have some questions concerning DBM's. I'm looking at possibly going with CDI for the bottom metal because they have a good reputation and they can do the stock inletting as well. The fit/functionality of CDI is supposed to be top notch, however you have to pay out the ass for AI mags.
The other company that I've heard great things about their DBM system is Accurate Mag. They have more mag options, and their mags are not as expensive. I don't know about inletting for the install, or whether they offer this service.
Will Accurate Mags work with CDI bottom metal? Are there any stocks available that will be drop-in fits for Accurate Mags based on a Savage short action? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ouch, haha.

For what it's worth, I love Savage builds. If they're done correctly.

The Accurate Mag magazines are patterned from the AICS mags, and the two are cross compatible. If you are going to buy a stock, McMillan and Manners both will inlet the stock for a CDi bottom metal for you, just let them know you want it done when you place the order. There are also quite a few companies that can inlet your current stock for the DBM if you want. Alternatively, you could switch to a chassis like the XLR. The XLR can accept AICS/Accurate Mags as is.

Also, AICS mags might be on the expensive side, but they're arguably the most reliable bolt gun magazines in production right now. In my opinion, they're well worth the money.

Yes, Accurate mags will work with the CDI bottom metal, and CDI offers stock inletting for $60 i believe. The AI mags are costly, but are battle proven. Accurate mags are cheaper and give you more capacity in a shorter package, due to double stack single feed operation but the accurate mags "may" not be as reliable. another one to possibly consider is Alpha Industries mags, they give increased COAL (Alha Type 2 Mags), but I read on their site that the Marines M40A5 uses the Alpha Type 1 mags with the Badger m5 dbm.
