    Hello,

I thought of asking over here what kind of firearms qualifications you have ran into?

I noticed doing qualification training drills makes good progress. I would really like to learn new qualification drills to add some variance into my training.

Please post any qualifications or drills you have come across. For any gun; pistol, semi or bolt-action. Please attach the drill target also if possible so that this will be a functional library for those.

My qualification entry, a sharpshooting drill, preferably done on 22LR for increased difficulty (drop + wind). Shooting with a centerfire, the points for each level are around 2 points more.

This test includes using a shooting stick but I prefer to do without one.

    Timer starts at 3 minutes.

Run 50m to the 150m line.
    Shoot 2 rounds prone.

    Run 50m to 100m line.
    Shoot 4 rounds kneeling.
(of these, 2 shots equipped with a stick, if carrying one)

    Run 50m to 50m line.
Shoot 4 rounds standing (of these, 2 shots equipped with a stick, if carrying one)

The minimum to pass is 16 and excellent is 30.

I get somewhere between 18 to 24, but should be steady 22+ now since I have improved my offhand shooting lately.

I corrected the post to firearms qualifications, though the qualifications already mentioned are very prestigious.

In all seriousness to the OP though, I don't think that's a bad drill. Like anything, the requirements are going to drive the desired outcome. Everyone has a defined physical limit so results are going to vary greatly person to person.

I could blood dope and probably ace many field tests in record times, but is the exertion unnecessary to complete the entire objective in the long run.

Most handbooks list no physical requirements these days (post-BCT) other than strict weapons skills based on a points system.

The qualification I mentioned is for FDF sharpshooters. It is just one of their tests that was used on a course I attended. It really got me to hone accuracy under pulse and to focus on positions that rely on bone structure and muscles.

Things I knew were important but just did not have insight to practice for. Because prone shooting is so much fun.

It seems that at the moment my total offhand accuracy is over 8moa, with 2/3 (mean ratio) of shots placing 1.8 to 2.5moa. So now I try to get the rest of them to place closer too.

My accuracy while kneeling is pretty much the same as off-hand as I have not practiced it very much after first phase of training, so I expect to gain something more there too.

I enjoyed this very much and hope more to be posted by members here.

To be honest, a good tested lot with proper dial will make 8 or 9 points from the prone position so the rest of test is just to gather few more, which makes it quite easy to pass, but is far from good points.

Try putting 10 rounds on a round paper plate 10" circle approx.,at 100 yards, from prone unsupported using an M4/AR-15 Carbine with iron sights. It sounds really easy but surprisingly I've seen it chew up a fair amount of shooters.

I guess it is 3 or 4 inches for a scoped rifle to make it fair? I checked comp results from start of year and 8/10 stayed within 4". So 3" is probably a good goal for optics.

I have not shot rifle with irons for some time, apart from 22LR position training. No irons on other guns.

But I am going to a shooting camp the next weekend, I will do this test with Sako M62 or m92. I am not conditioned to shoot them with precision but they should group well.
