As some of you might know, I;m trying to put a .223 project together and I found out about this stick... Remmy 40XB KS. I am not going into alot of particulars about what I am going to use this for other than some bench( out to 5-600) and some light hunting. Tell me about this people......Thanks jim

Re: Dig deep for opinions on this rifle

Wow, really?

Why don't you "dig deep" to write a worthwhile first post with some particulars, before you expect people to waste their time "digging deep" telling you you're a _____.

Nothing personal :D, just the worst first post I've seen in a while. I hate people who expect something for nothing.

______

So, I'll actually spend more time on my post than you did on yours. You named a caliber, rifle model, left rifle use pretty open, and fixed no other details.

What are you hunting (small varmints, 'yotes, etc)?
What scope/handloads are you thinking of grouping at 500+ yds?
How good of a shooter are you on what you already have at this kind of range?
Why are you planning on starting with a premium custom shop Remington benchrest action (40X)?
How much do you know about the 40XB KS other than what's posted on the Remington Custom Shop website?
Do you want a single shot or repeater 40X?
What's your budget for rifle/entire rig?

Re: Dig deep for opinions on this rifle

As KSwift said, you really need to be more specific when asking about a rifle... If you don't want to be specific, then use the search function (as I see you are new, click on my sig) and run several searches using different key words. I'm sure you'll find many threads asking many more specific questions than you did.

I am not going into particulars either. People aren't going to bother doing research for you.

Wow....where did you find one of those? It's worth at least $4-5K in horribly used condition. If it's almost new you would be stealing it at double that price.

Then again my advice is probably worth as much as your post. Dig Deep. You know what digging means around these parts....right?

Re: Dig deep for opinions on this rifle

To be honest if you're spending 2.5k on a Rem I'd say you are payin too much. Just buy a 700 action and build on that.... Have a gunsmith work on it....

Way to piss on my fun.

Re: Dig deep for opinions on this rifle

Okay...dig this...

If it is truly information that you are seeking (and not just to stir up s#!T with poorly thought-out posts), then use the search function that many before have already suggested to you. Or for even easier access...click the link in my sig line for a direct link to the Hide Search Engine.

There is plenty of good information to be had on this topic (and countless others). Before starting any new thread, using the search engine to see what's already out there is ALWAYS a good idea (and may actually save you the trouble of threads like this and being publically flogged in the future).

If you still have questions after you have run a search and read up on the subject, then come back and try posting something that you have thought through and provide more detailed questions.

I didn't mean to piss on your fun.... I feel bad for a guy who spends a lot on a little bit.... Just suggesting a different route

Re: Dig deep for opinions on this rifle

Check out the new .223 remington 5r I have not shot one but I know the .308 version shoots pretty good. Or if you really want to spend some money, call APA,GAP,or any of the other great smiths. They will make you a better rifle than the 40x just my .2cents...
