Digital Powder Dispensers

Re: Digital Powder Dispensers

RCBS Chargemaster is about the most popular based on the fact that they are under $300, seem to hold zero quite well, throw at a decent rate (after you do the software mod on the new ones) and are throw very consistently. The Lyman from all accounts can't hold a zero very well, isn't as consistent and takes longer to throw (less accurate) measurements. The Hornady is the new kid on the block and looks like a red version of the Chargemaster 1500 and is a little less expensive if you can find them in stock which is hard right now. Nobody has really posted a detailed comparison against the CM 1500 but I'm guessing it's quite similar but it's only a guess at this point w/o first hand data or a longer track record to prove reliability. In closing I would suggest the RCBS unit but there are TONs of threads on this topic you can research for yourself.

Re: Digital Powder Dispensers

RCBS Chargemaster!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had one for about 2 months and it works very well. I did the program mod and it's great. I picked up a Lyman, the new one that's suppose to be faster than the old ones and it just didn't seem right. There was a warm up period, it overcharged more, it was slower, the powder dumping wasn't as easy etc. etc. etc. I immediately returned it and ordered another RCBS. I do recommend using a McDonalds straw in the dump tube as it helps with getting the charges right. With both of them working I dump dump dump dump as fast as I can.
