hello all,we just got a dillon650 ,.223.run some once fired commercial brass through it last night for the first time and they came out fine.then today was going to run some lake city through it.the issue is that we cant get enough adjustment on the sizer die to bump the shoulder .using lee dies.just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.
thanks.

Re: dillon 650 question

Are you using the lee rings or the dillon rings?

I've never loaded 223 on mine but I have to junk the lee rings because they're about twice as thick as the dillon rings and would Not allow all the adjustment you need on some pistol cartridges.

Re: dillon 650 question

yeah at first was using the lee rings, and then went to the dillon ones,i was able to get the die adjusted down to the shell plate and it still did not bump the shoulder enough to function in the ar 15.however if i do the same thing in the single stage press it does fine.just puzzling to me.will probably contact dillon for their opinion.thanks rrflyer.

Re: dillon 650 question

Following the directions that almost all FL dies come with is like listening to the automakers on when to change the oil in there engines, get a headspace gage, set up all your FL dies with it, you need to bump the shoulder .002-.003 on autoloaders, or you can keep screwing the die down until cases will chamber, but you may be oversizing at that point.

Re: dillon 650 question

although I hate the 650, the problem is not the press but the die, in my experiance the lee dies are only good for pistol loading, for your 223 get a quality RCBS, hornady, redding etc sizer, run it all the way down and you are good to go, a case guage is a must!!!
hope this helps.
