I'd like to dimple my barrel for set screws so I can put on a low-profile gas block. Is any specific way best?

I can take it a gunsmith at some point to have him do it, but I was thinking I'd mark the points where the set screws touch the barrel, then take a small bit on my Dremel and just remove some material to create the dimples.

A)Get a screw the same thread size and grind it to a point, insert into hole and tighten it down to make an indent on the barrel.

B) Use a transfer punch and insert thru hole and strike with hammer once block is positioned.

You can then use an automatic or spring loaded center punch to make a larger spot drill point to drill.

Small note: If you're going to use "A", just try and be sure to have the point as centered as possible. Or just buy pointed set screws, they're available relatively cheap.

Simple way is mark each hole, one at a time, with a pointed set screw with the gas block properly positioned, then simply drill shallow marks on the set screw indentations.
