Ordered a pice of pic blank from Brownell's.

Drilled/tapped it for 1/4-20 thread pitch.

Now it's real easy to use my backup scope as a field spotter with reticle, and plenty of eye relief. Just put it on the base and finger tighten the bolts.

Great reminder. Been planning on doing the same with a long piece of rail, for use with the NV PVS-22.
Victor at TNVC sells a rail specifically for use like this, and it's a valuable piece of kit.

Very nice idea. Did you tap by hand or lathe? I have some hand taps and would like to try this out.
