Do I need to send my die in?

I went to do some 300 win resizing with my Forster FL on my coax press. I noticed after about 10 pieces that there were brass shavings around the base of the brass.

Is this an issue with my dies? I ran a couple with my RCBS die I had sitting here and it felt much smoother and I didn’t see any cutting in the brass.

    See attached pictures.

It could just be the lighting but in the second brass pic it looks very much like you have a near case head separation.
If I saw that on my own brass I would be looking very closely to rule that out as well as measuring some brass just ahead of the belt for bulges. Never had any issues with Win or Nosler brass but have seen that with Federal.

Yea what you’re seeing there is a couple things:

    1) the higher up (farther right) ring is where it started gouging the brass
    2) the lower (further left) ring is where the die bottomed out and it stopped sizing.

I wouldn’t guess corrosion since these dies are only two months old. I’ll call Forster tomorrow and see what they say.

No question your forster die tighter spec than the rcbs if the latter did not do this, I'd look for separation first, then measure for a bulge like an above poster said. Your die is just rolling oversize brass downward.

Left two were full length sized with another die first. Far right was once fired and ran directly in the Forster.

Middle and right have the worst roll marks.

It could be that the chamber is a little big but I think the Forster is still tighter than it should be. I threw the brass sized with the RCBS in my case gauge and they dropped right in there no problem.

Well I’m shooting a lot of once fired brass from my previous gun that I rechambered and stuff I bought off the hide that was once fired.

This gun shoots amazing, so I don’t think it’s this chamber.

Yea I was looking at some various options but I think for the time being I’ll just run it all in my RCBS. If it’s sizing down to where I need it for my chamber without shaving it then that’s all I can ask for I guess.

If the Forster isn’t out of spec, then they probably won’t do anything about it. I’ll just toss it back in the case until I sell the dies down the road.
