Does anyone go through effort of installing DM in B&C stock?

I'm planning out my build that I will work on over the next few months. I want a compact 308 capable of 500-600 yds w/o breaking the bank. I'd be ecstatic with .75-1 MOA accuracy, so I can't really justify the cost of the higher end stock/chasis systems. However, having detachable mags would be great while hunting. So there's my question; is it ridiculous to put a $200 bottom metal system in a $250 stock?

Bell and Carlson Tactical Medalist for a Savage Model 10. DBM is CDI. Only complaint is how deep it had to be inlayed. I think smith did a fine job for how the stock was formed very happy with it. DBM is bedded in and I also had the action bedded while I was at it. Id say its worth it! Rifle also shoots < 1 MOA. .40-.65 groups are the norm at 100yds.

I would stay away from BC all together. I have one on a rifle and hate it. It is so heavy it is ridiculous. on top of that, the stock had a hole in the fore end that seemed like an air bubble had caused a void in the making of the stock. The customer service told me six plus months to get it repaired. That right, not a new one, repaired. Never again will i use that brand again!
