The black coating on my S/A Lightweight Operator just isn't doing it for me so I'm considering a two-tone cerakote and some VZ grips to upgrade it. Has anyone done this to their 1911? Have you liked the results? I'd love to see pictures if you have them. I'm leaning either toward an OD green slide with blackened lower, with OD VZ grips.

Here are a couple of pictures. I have really liked it on my own.

Those colors are graphite black and Tactical brown. The tactical brown is the same as on the woodland marpat pattern. It is one of my favorite colors.

Not Cerakote, but KG Gunkote, did this myself a few months ago after the dissapointing KimProII finish starting wearing and chipping off. I just did the frame as of now since that was all I was having problems with.

I just used playsand to blast mine. (I know I know Im going to die from using silica...save it.) Mine is an aluminum frame and even over the checkering it didnt affect the frame at all.

After talking to KG about matching a color on my Kimber he first asked me how old the gun was, and after saying only a year old he was relieved. I asked why, apparently KG used to supply the paint for Kimbers KimProII up until around 4 years ago when they switched to a "cheaper" company. Ever since then theyve received a LOT of calls about redoing kimber frames.

The knife is a Benchmade Marc Lee Glory

Its addicting once you have the materials and equipment to do it yourself, Ive coated pretty much everything I own, down to some of my knives. Amazing how durable the bake on finishes are.
