Hey guys, wanted to get your opinion on something. I have a guy who wants to buy one of my rifles I have for sale on gunbroker. He sent me a message asking for a face to face transaction. He lives a couple hours away. He stated he is a LEO and will bring cash and credentials to prove it.

For some reason I feel a little hesitant. Do you guys think I have anything to worry about

Re: Does this sound like a good idea

Yes you do. Don't do it unless it takes place at a local PD. Call ahead. Or at a minimum at an FFL. It is one thing if you were at a gun show but this can be MUCH more of a potential risk to you.

Re: Does this sound like a good idea

Knowing no more than what you posted it is hard to say. Personally I wouldn't divuldge where I live, and secondly if he is willing to provide credentials, ask for them before agreeing to meet, and follow up on them beforehand.

Re: Does this sound like a good idea

What difference does it make if he's cop or not...?

I prefer face to face transactions especially with guns (no paper trail). I do a lot of them, even one two days ago...

Re: Does this sound like a good idea

Sounds shady, definitely at least do it at a FFL if not the PD. Whenever you have to even ask a question like this you are better off being safe than sorry.

....Go for it...Just make sure you wear one of these

In case he goes for your donut hahaha. Just playin, couldn't resist man sorry

Re: Does this sound like a good idea

No problem with that.. Especially with his creds. I would type up a bill of sale and add all his info on it for your records..

More than likely he wants to meet in person to avoid any paperwork... The cost of driving a few hours far outweighs a $25 FFL transfer and shipping costs...

You have the supply, he has the demand... You are in complete control! I he wants a F2F transaction... have it be on your terms, at a place you're familiar with!
I would never sell or trade a firearm without writing up my own lil bill of sale... Cover your own ass!
