Dovetail rimfire rings, what a pain!

I bought a 164 Savage-Anschuntz Sporter, and would like to mount a scope on it. No big deal, right? Wrong!
I stopped into the local shop, and bought a set of Millet Angle-Loc rings, as they are suppose to fit both 3/8 and 11mm dovetails, well they don't. My dovetail measures .437, and the rings are too wide, although just. Then I thought about Burris Signature rings. Turns out they are not offered in 11mm, what a shame, a +.020 offset in the back and a -.020 in the front would insure 200+ yard shooting. Then I look up Leupold 11mm rings, only to find they have been getting scathing reviews at Midway lately. Long story short, I need a set of 1" steel gloss rings, .516" or taller to fit a .437" (11mm) dove tail. Any advice?

Thanks!

Erik

talley makes rings for Anschutz rifles but i don't think they are gloss and they are vertical split. but i really like the one on my cz 452 american(3/8ths dovetail)

Re: Dovetail rimfire rings, what a pain!

Champion Shooters Supply has some one inch rings for the Anschutz rails. About $28.

Erik,
I ran into similar problems with my Anshutz 64BR. After some searching here and on other sites, I was pointed to Rimfire Technologies.

They make adapter rails that turn the dovetail rails into picatinny and you can use whatever rings you want. They also make 20moa rails for extra elevation.

The guy who made the rails has his own website now:

And here is a direct link to the Savage page.

I had put serious thought into one of his rails, but I was worried about the set screws marring the finish of the receiver on the rifle. Are the set screws pointed, semi-pointed and knurled or rounded?

Re: Dovetail rimfire rings, what a pain!

Considering its a Savage Anschutz, and a 164 at that, not a MeisterGrade Annie 54 I would opt for function over form.

And you'd want the Anschutz 64 rails from DI, not the Savage rails....

Re: Dovetail rimfire rings, what a pain!

BKL's kick ass too, but aren't gloss (again, is form or function your priority?). If you go BKL consider the cantilever, and be waned that they may be a tight fit on your rail too (that's how they are made to be).

Re: Dovetail rimfire rings, what a pain!

I vote for BLK. good rings at a reasonable price. I think I have a low set from beeman if your still looking for a pair.
