DPMS GEN2 Magazine

Use the metal DPMS ones. Mine have functioned flawlessly in both of my G2's

There's a mod for some of the Gen3 PMAGs, (Gen2 PMAGs are reported to function okay) but they require some alterations to the followers. I've been meaning to give the Lancers a go, but haven't tried anything other than the stock metal mags from DPMS at this point.

Yeah, my dpms likes the dpms mags, i bought about 15 of the metal pmags and they function fine but dont drop free for reloads, you gotta pull em out. Its just enough to cause it to not drop free. Makes reload drill a real workout, and you feel like your in a nightmare racing anybody on reload drills.

May I ask what magazines are being used?

I have a GII hunter and have no problems with P-Mags.

What kind of problem is being experienced?

My GII was badly overgassed causing all kinds of problems. The bolt was moving so fast that it caused the bolt to drop the brass back into the magwell and over-run the magazine without picking up a cartridge. It was knocking the crap out of my brass also, the extractor was bending the rims of the case because the bolt was unlocking and starting the extraction process before the chamber pressure dropped enough to let the brass release the chamber.

I am thinking you may be having the same problems I was having. I installed an Odin adjustable gas block and that made things all better. Other people have installed heavy buffers and heavy buffer springs. I did both. What I ended up with is a GII hunter that functions very well and shoots nice enough that I could easily put a couple hundred rounds through it in a day and not be beat up by the recoil. The GII is my favorite gasser.

I think that DPMS purposely overgassed their rifles so they would function with whatever crap was being fed to it.

I only recently acquired the rifle. It came with one magazine. So, I just need several additional magazines.

I only have a desire for mags which will give minimal issues. So, since the consensus seems to be DPMS mags, that’s what I’ll get if I can find them.
By the way, I talked to the guys at Magpul. They explicitly stated they don’t make or recommend their mags for the G2.

Notably, I only use Magpul for my M5 bottom metal. I’m very satisfied.

Thanks.
