DPMS problem

Alright. I'm new to the large frame AR's and most AR's in general.

I have a DPMS 260 and when its dry fired the BCG seems to get stuck. A gentle tap with the butt on the ground gets it undone and it moves freely.

I've been told the firing pin may be sticking forward.

Called DPMS and was asked why I would dry fire it......

Anyhow am I missing something here? Dry Fire bad? any idea about the sticking BCG? I fired a few test rounds and it functioned just fine. Firing pin doesn't appear to have any burrs on it.

Dry fireing is ok, carrier should not hang up. Did you lube the weapon ? Ar's love lots of oil, lots and lots of oil. If you have it lubed up and the BCG still does not go into battery then I would send it back to DPMS.
My brother had a similar problem with his dpms, sent it in, they changed his Bolt carrier, now no problems. Just make sure the weapon is assembled correctly first before you send it in.
Is the rifle new ? Did you clean it ? Did you clean the buffer and spring ? Is it back together correctly ? Is the charging handel bent ? What did DPMS say ? How does the ejected brass look ?
Don't hit the but to cycle the weapon. If you have a loaded mag in the mag well and you hit the but stock on the ground it can chamber a round !
If your new to the ar system read-up on slam fire. This is very dangerous and has happened to me !
I would send it back to DPMS asap, it did not cost my brother any money at all and he got it back in two weeks. Good luck

Try dryfiring with snap caps.
