Night Vision Dumb question on long term storage of NV and Thermals

I want to buy some equipment to stash and it may sit in an ammo can for years (batteries out of course) and not be used.
Does any NV or Thermal have a finite "lifespan" ?

Anything electronic is liable to die or go dead at any time. Keeping it in a dry, temp stable environment is the best you can do.

I'd read somewhere about keeping thermals in the fridge to extend life span of the tubes (or something like that), and some NV had tritium (that decays).
Is that all old tech that has nothing to do with newer devices?

From my understanding with storing NV it's ideal just to keep it at room temp.
