Hey Everyone,

I have a Remington 700 5R, and it's time for paint. I was just wondering on what coat to go with? I hear alot about Cerakote and hear it's just has good if not better then Duracoat. I'm stuck! Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Re: Duracoat or Cerakote?

Cerakote is far superior to duracoat but it requires baking(unless your talking air dry that I've never used).Another very good option is KG gunkote. In general any of the bakeons will be stronger then the air drys. There is no real best answer they are all adequate.

Re: Duracoat or Cerakote?

Norrel's Moly is another option. It is a single-component and requires pre-heat & baking but is forgiving in application, coating build, even finish, and hard use. In my limited experience, I prefer that vs. Duracoat for solid-color metal coating. Norrel's now offers a air-cure product but I have not tried it, I doubt I will soon.

Re: Duracoat or Cerakote?

Thanks for letting me know! I found someone who does it, and I just wanted to make sure that is my best option. Once everything is painted I'll post some pic's.

Thanks again,
Joe
