Gunsmithing Duracoat Urban Mirage White color question

I just received my Duracoat Urban Mirageflage kit (black, gray & white digital). When I opened the Urban Mirage White it is actually gray. Is this normal & actually lightens up to a true white when mixed with the hardner & sprayed? Or is this an old batch, or maybe even labeled wrong? .... Oh yeah, I even shook it up for a few minutes.

Is it a lighter grey than the grey grey?

They have white (true white) and Urban Mirage White which I'd assume is a grey'd white. True white would be very white and bright for any urban camo imho.

Yes, its more of a light gray & lighter than the other gray in the kit. .... Its nowhere near as light (or white) as the advertised pic shows.

Thanks guys, im sure this will look just fine. Its just not as white as the ones i've seen done or even there advertised pic. Didn't know if there was a problem or not.

it looks different once it is painted on the contrast with the black and the gray-gray makes it look lighter

I sprayed a little sample last night. It turned out good & looks fine .... By the way, nice looking rifle you have there!

just a tip.. take your sweet time!!! i spent three days doing mine and made sure the stencils were aligned right if you do it sloppy it will really show. my friends didnt come out near as nice because he rushed it. and thanks for the compliment on the rifle

I figure it will be a pain in the butt to keep the lines square to each other. Thats the part I dread.

it isnt as bad as you would think it is just teadious. the hardest part is trying to change the pattern through the rifle mine changes the base color through out the rifle the muzzle is mostly black while the butt of the stock is mostly gray. it just takes some thought and a little planning. once you first layer of stencils has been painted just use them as reference for the rest. and also the more sencils you use the better it will look i had to share the stencil pack between two rifles so i didnt get as much contrast as i wanted but am still happy with the overall turnout

Nice job on that rifle!

I just used Duracoat for the first time on an AR Specter build that I just did. I was very pleased with the results of Duracoat. I have a few more guns and parts to paint and I think I am going to invest in a decent airbrush and or HVLP spray gun as the Preval sprayer I DI NOT care for... Mine spit and sputtered a few times and I even cleaned it out with acetone between coats... I did find extra Preval sprayers before I started the project at Home Depot for 4.99 with the jar as on the Laurer site, he gets 12.00 a pop for them...
