Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Check out the SO Tech model. A larger side pocket and well made.

In my experience the Eagle and Tac Ops Stock Packs' are equivalent in size, quality of construction, and craftsmanship. The main feature between the two is that the Eagle has five (5) ammo loops and the Tac Ops has eight (8). However, something else I've noticed is that the straps on the Tac Ops Stock Pack are longer than on the Eagle. I measured the straps on my Tac Ops Stock Pack, and all of them are 10.125-10.250" (10 1/8-10 1/4") long.

A longer rear strap also allows you to position the stock pack in the same place if you shorten or lengthen the LOP to compensate for summer or winter clothing. I got my TO Stock Pack when I picked-up my X-Ray 51 and I didn't specify longer straps. Customers can also specify longer straps on their Tac Ops Stock Pack when ordering direct from Tac Ops.

Either one should serve you well. The drag bags are a different story and are where the Tac Ops is way ahead in features and execution (quality of construction and craftsmanship on still on par between the two).

Will the SO Tech one work with a Sako TRG stock? Can't find one that fits right.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Thanks for the info! I am trying to build up my sps.308 and I just want to buy the right stuff the first time.

Nope. The guy that makes Tac Ops drag bags for them also makes the stock packs. I won't tell you who the guy is but hes' in Los Angeles.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Eagle is good , try the triad tactical website , he has a larger stock pouch made by eagle (so it has the lifetime warranty), its made for larger stocks like the mcmillan A-series tactical stocks and has a larger pouch.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Here's a pic of the SO Tech I use. I don't like having the rounds on the outside of the pouch as it's a pain when shooting weakhand and also I don't like them getting banged around and dirty. The SO Tech can hold a 5 or 10 round AI mag in the pouch and also ammo trays.

Extorris, not sure about the TRG.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

i tried to order an eagel stock pack but couldnt find one in stock....ordered the tac ops stock instead and had it within a week...well made and was everything i expected. If you dont want to wait for the eagle i will def recommend the tac ops....plus it holds more ammo

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

SOTECH rear bag. It is actually a prototype which works with a band of velcro attached to the stock. The theory is that is acts as a counterweight, and can stay with your rifle when relocating positions rapidly.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Gents,
There is one feature that I have to point out which separates our pack from the competition. For the record, all are excellent products, however ours has a feature which makes it uber user friendly.
If you notice the zippers on the Eagle and TO packs, the open from the rear. The SOTECH one opens from the front.
This means that you can actually open our pack while on the glass, without having to reach behind your head to fumble for a zipper.
This feature is highly convenient when on the glass, and you don't have the luxury of taking your head off the stock.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Since were talking stock packs, Im not a real "tactical" type of guy so I dont know. Can anyone tell me what purpose the extra velcro strap is supposed to serve?

I have the TO and it seems pretty good. I can fit a spare can of snuff and a dope card in it. Im happy.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

I have been trying to find an Eagle cheek pad for months and haven't found any yet. I went to my local army surplus this morning and found an off brand cheek pad for 10.99, so I snagged it. It didn't have any tags on it, but a little googling later and I found out it is an EA Gear stock pack. Never heard of them before, and still haven't found more than a pic and explanation, but it seems like it will work pretty good. It has a velcro strip on the outside and on the inside and came with two 7 round ammo strips. I have a .223, so the ammo loops are just a little to big, and I don't like the ammo on the outside anyway, so I got a flag patch instead. Here are some pics on my rifle. Stock is a Choate Tactical.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

For what it is worth, Eagle has been great with warranty issues. After 15 years, the zippers on my soft cases were worn out...Eagle replaced the zippers without so much as a whimper...even after 15 years.

I don't have any financial connection with the company either...I just like their products.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

I prefer the TacOps Cheek pad. i have one on my 700P and i love it. well made, made in the USA, really a great product, i would recommend to others and would buy again. im happy enough with my cheek pad i just bought and just recieved a Drag Bag from TacOps too, and again, i think they are the best around. i would recommend them.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

I did a review for the TacOps cheek pad a little while ago that Mel from SniperCentral sent to me. Very well made, and a very good value in my opinion.

The pack itself is slightly longer than the Eagle, and it also comes with an additional strap for the stocks with less taper. The cushion is nice and the pad feels good against you as well.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Will the larger Eagle industries cheekpad that Triad Tactical sells fit a Mcmillan A-5 stock better than the regular Eagle industries pack??

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

P620346,

They do. snipercentral.com has em in the shop, or you can call tacops direct for different colors and order. they make em for lefties as of about two months ago.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

The SOTECH Stock Pack fits the McMillan A-5 perfectly, and is adjustable for any stock.
The material is a soft material similar to the Eagle, and your cheek will not slip when perspiring.
FYI, Eagle is 24 months behind on orders.
Choose who you will, but at least you are fully aware of all the options.
TacOps, SOTECH, and Eagle all make a great product, and at the end of the day you will be happy with it.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Phil, I'm sure you make a great product but you misstated Eagle packs zip from rear to front. Mine is approx. 2 months old and conviently zips from the front with loops on the inside. A special run of bags, maybe. As they are hard to come by I'll never know but it is exactly what I was looking for. One of these days I would like to check out your products. I'll keep my eyes open for them at the range.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

In regards to the zipper configuration, this is news to me. I do know that they are 24 months behind, and I personally have not seen any new product design in regards to their sniper line in many years.
Perhaps they are offering the new pattern, but even if they are, they are so far behind in production, I would be hard pressed to get ahold of one as a customer.

The pouch design appears large, but it is not intrusive at all, and hardly noticeable. There are no plans to change it, as the current design will hold 20 rounds in the factory trays, or 1 AI 308, 10 Round Mag.

Re: Eagle industries or tac ops cheek pad?

Does anyone have pictures of have a link to a site that has all of the colors and camo styles? Most of the ones iv seen have been olive black or woodland camo.. I kinda would like to see all of the options before I go out and order one online and not know what it looks like..

I saw some of these recently price is decent and wonder if these will serve a standard stock on a savage 110? just looking for a easy way to keep a few extra rounds on the rifle as well as whatever else I could get on board.
Thanks for any input.
