Early Waffen Heer Double Claw

This is an example of an early double claw German sniper rifle most likely converted in a depot when the invasion of Russia began and the German military was hard pressed to keep up with the demand. The scope dates to the late1930’s as does the rifle( 1937)

Have you ever removed the dovetail on the front ring? Curious where it intersects in relation to the upper lug.

No , but the bottom of the dovetail can be seen through the slots. I know the Mannlicher Schoenauer actions could burst when this type of dovetail was cut in the receiver. The Germans and the SS especially had objective mount scopes like this. They must have had problems as well because the later dovetails were moved to a saddle that mounted on top of the receiver . I won’t be shooting this one
