So I was out at the range the other week and make a mistake and left oil in the barrel from short term storage. Luckily nothing serious happened but it was definitely a learning experience. I just slide two clean patches down the barrel and never saw another pressure sign. However, I now have ejector marks on two pieces of brass. Is it still ok to use or has it been structurally compromised in some way?

Re: Ejector Marked Brass

What you got is called bolt slap. When the pressure rose, and the brass expanded to grap the chamber wall, the residual oil prevented the gasket from grabbing hold, and the case is rammed back on the bolt with the full force of the pressure cycle behind it. This generally blows all the residual oil from the chamber and it generally gets on your safety glasses as it blow out of the ejection port.

The case did not see high pressures, but the high velocity impact with the bolt face makes it appear as if it had seen high pressure signs.
