Elon Musk is a superb salesman, probably one of the best public salesmen in recent history.

While it's vastly underpowered for an actual flame thrower & is almost the same price as the starting level better ones, it is a perfect fit for it's targeted demographic who wants something "cool" that they can run around office parties, homes & parks etc. with, feeling all badass without actually being able to do more than set their own clothes on fire accidentally. Cool name, cool pedigree, hipster styling all for a $500 donation to his company.
