As I understand it, the FCC gave permission to Elon Musk to shoot 12,000 satellites into low orbits and he is requesting for another 30,000. This plan of his, is to provide free internet for everyone, for one year. Presumably, thereafter, he will be charging everyone. In the meantime, all these satellites are blocking the view of telescopes scanning the skies.
Many years ago, I read that shooting off rocket ships into space sort of drills a hole into the atmosphere, each time one goes up. Harmful?
Unable to find just how fast Musk's internet service will be. DSL speeds? 3x DSL speeds? Hughes Satellite fast? How come they never tell you exactly how fast that is? To get you to pay more for a faster speed? Currently I am told that I have 100 Mbs. Fast enough for streaming movies. Good enough for gaming?
Is Starlink worth it? Anyone know more about it? Always willing to learn more.
