ER Shaw barrels and uppers

Re: ER Shaw barrels and uppers

I use one on my competition gun and i like it. I got it to save money for my 1st build and i am pleased with it, once it is shot out though i will get a better barrel. mine is a 24" 1:8 twist heavy bull barrel AR15 with a 5.56x45 NATO chamber.

mine is 1/2 moa rifle when i do my part

Re: ER Shaw barrels and uppers

when i finally do rebarrel (not for a long time) i would like to have the barrel fluted and threaded for a suppressor.

and I am perfectly happy with my AR lol. longest hit right now was 4 out of 5 shots on a 16" IPSC target at 975 yards

They can be good if the company that orders them chooses the right specs and pays for the optional steps and inspects the barrels before shipping them on to the customer. If the secondary company is known for cheap junk then there is a good chance they don't pay for the extra steps, inspect the barrels or demand quality from Shaw.

Unless I am mistaken, I can order direct through ER Shaw myself. I don't know for sure though.

Er Shaw

Re: ER Shaw barrels and uppers

I believe model 1 sales uses their barrels. They are not bad, just rough in the bore as in foul like hell. I've had a couple of 16", a 20" tubes from them. Never got to 1/2 moa though. managed 3/4 moa most of the time. People may laugh but i really like oly barrels for cheap accuracy. Never had an issue with them, but I understand others have had issues with the chambers.

Re: ER Shaw barrels and uppers

Only thing I can say about their 5.56 barrels is when I ordered a 308 bolt gun barrel I was told the run on AR barrels was stupifying.

I didnt 'stay on them' or demand extra inspections but I got a very good barrel. Better than .5moa and on my good days a ragged hole at 100 yards with the occasional win in 600 yard F-TR competitions.

One of the best reasons to buy a ER Shaw is after beating guys with high end custom rifles in their tacticool stocks I get to tell them a 150 dollar barrel did it!

I dont see the US F-Class team switching to ER Shaw but the company has greatly expanded twist rates offerings and quality is excellent for the price.

I'd recommend them. But if snob appeal is at the forefront then there are other barrel makers who's name get ohhhs and ahhhs from the other guys at your local range.
