I want to repalce the Magpul grip on a GAP 10 and am looking at the Ergo Tactical DLX SureGrip and would like some feedback.

Ergo grips are great.
I have a couple of them. Texture has a lot of benefits; very natural shape and cushioned feeling. In my opinion, its a great balance, its not soft to the point where you lose any feeling of control. I feel going with the deluxe or the shelf is more personal preference. Hand size is different on the deluxe I believe (fatter body).
Very different than magpul, hogue etc...

I have the regular Ergo grips on 4-5 carbines. I love those. I tried the deluxe on my MK12 and it just didn't work for me. Odd, because I have large hands, but it just felt weird to me.

Too squishy with a heavy rifle. Rolling the rifle up and out for a mag change on the move left me feeling like I wasn't fully in control of the rifle because of the squirm of the grip. LaRue APEG fixed that. For a bench gun, the Ergo Deluxe would be fine. It's certainly sexy. I just didn't like the excessive give of the grip, but that would only by a problem on a heavy rifle, too. I was using it on an LWRC REPR with a suppressor. Light rifle, you wouldn't notice the squirm I was getting.

Interesting. I haven't noticed any squirming on the AR10 and I have been running the ERGO Tactical Deluxe for some time.
Just put one on the MATEN build. If I grab it at the base and really crank on it, I can get a little squish, but in an actual firing grip I don't seem to notice any movement.

I will say that my grip is probably lower than most. My trigger finger knuckle is straight back from the trigger, and rolled around the grip just enough to get a right angle finger - not a natural placement at all on an AR. That may be the sole reason I perceived what I felt was a problem. A "normal" high glock-grip would probably feel solid enough.

When I asked a similar (but different) question, it was suggested that I get a couple that I liked and sell whatever I didn't use. I did that. I'm liking my Ergo Deluxe and still haven't gotten around to selling the others. Mine is on a DMPS LR308 weighing 15 lbs. and no complaints at all.
Like said, these are cheap enough to get a couple different ones to try out. My opinion, for what it's worth.

That really is strange... I'm sure you did, but did you check to make sure you had the bolt tightened enough? I just tried to get mine "squishy" with suppressor attached to my REPR and I really couldn't perceive any real movement.
Grips are such a personal choice... I really like the Ergo Deluxe, I've put them on every AR/SR platform that I own.

I have had many grips over the years. Some rifles feel better with some grips while others like others. That being said, I have had a few tactical deluxes and feel they are the best grip out there for precision shooting and overall control. very commanding feel of the rifle. On a combat rifle I may not use one as it is a little bigger which may hinder fast unencumbered grip acquisition. palm shelfs eat up a bit of real estate for bigger hands. I just wish they had storage plugs or trap doors to allow storing stuff.

There is a new addition this year from Ergo, four in the lineup now. All but this new line are offered in 2 grip sizes of the same model (for larger/smaller hands).
This is the current offering-
For me, the grip feels like an extension of my hand. The combination of a thin layer of texture and cushion outside of a hard plastic core makes the grip feel more positive to me.
The difference reminds me of swinging a wooden bat vs an aluminum with rubber/foam grip... Or like a nicely designed golf club. I feel that stiffer grips roll around more on the bones of my hand where the cushioned feels like a more natural buffer, is easier ro manipulate and for me provides more confidence-

I love the shape of the grip, but never liked any overmold rubber texturing, on anything. Its too much of a good thing maybe? I'm old fashioned and just control the amount of grip with the muscles in my hand and am paranoid of anything "rubberized" oxidizing and getting sticky after a few years... But thats ok since they make the rigid version which I swap in as soon as I would come home from the FFL.
I thought too the 'deluxe' would be a step up for a more precision oriented configuration, but it was bulkier than I had bargained for once I had it mounted.

I feel the same way that they need a better internal "skeleton." I dont like that I can squeeze the grip and it gives. I prefer the Hogue grips. I traded the Ergo that came with my XLR chassis for a Hogue and am happy with it. The Hogue seems to give me better control of the rifle. Same with my AR.
