Rifle Scopes Estadt Joins Leupold Tactical Optics

Re: Estadt Joins Leupold Tactical Optics

Awesome news for Leupold. I hope that more of his efforts go into tightening up their QC, and leaning up that organization over winning more military contracts.

I wonder if this is a problem for vortex.

Re: Estadt Joins Leupold Tactical Optics

He sounds like a very capable individual and who knows how it will affect Vortex. Personally, if I was to base a job choice purely on who's offering the most innovation, quality and bang-for-the-buck, I'd choose Vortex over Leupold. But being a customer is different than being an employee. I like Leupold enough to say that I hope they at least come out with some products that better reflect the tactical market...and that are not grossly overpriced, e.g. the $4,000 1.1-8.

Not sure anything could make me a Leupold customer again but I will keep and open mind and see if the Leupold mgmt will listen to him. I am not putting a c note on that horse to win/show/place though.

I have no idea how Leupold run their show, but from the comments that I hear regarding complaints/bashing, its more along the lines of poor quality leaving the factory and sometimes even a less then adequate response to customer service.

I have not experienced this myself, and im only speaking on behalf of what I have read over the years.

Whatever quality systems leupold have in place, they need to tighten. If its not cost effective to add extra quality assurance then their processes arent efficient.

Less crap out the doors = less re-work (warranty), lower loss of resources, higher customer satisfaction and in good cases a reduced price in product cost.

If Leupold are really looking to hit a high level of continual improvement they need to take on board ways to improve their business. They should look at some of the benchmarks out there and devise ways to change their current operations... Striving for six sigma standards is a good thing.
