I posted a pro gun comment on a FB page today that turned out to be full of Brits and Aussies. Boy did they get pissed.
I guess I shouldn't have said that the most useful purpose for a gun is it allowed us to kick your lyme asses out of our country. I thought the snowflakes were hi strung.

But I do know a lot of Brits who are pissed about the infringement of firearms ownership. Some even moved to France, where firearms ownership is actually pretty widespread and not massively regulated. You can have live beltfeds there! And suppressors... cost 20 Euros at the local sporting goods store.
But... yes, we fought a war because we no longer gave a crap what Europeans thought. And then went back with our rifles... and bailed them out twice in the last century. $$#k their opinions!
As for the Aussies... they're all descended from felons... Present company excepted. Just kidding. They have been royally screwed over by city-dwellers in their major cities. I can't think of any place besides Africa where having a gun... all the time... is more necessary. But city lefties have screwed the population. Since the host of the show is speaking Icelandic, I'm kinda curious what gun laws there are like. I know in Norway there's no restrictions on buying a suppressor.

In all, he participated in 500 major competitions in the course of his life and is remembered as an excellent marksman to this day.
Well in 1940, with the British Army losing most of its equipment in the evacuation from Dunkirk, an urgent call was sent out for arms to equip the new Home Guard being prepared to resist a German invasion. With that, in November 1940 the National Rifle Association’s American Rifleman magazine ran an ad placed by the American Committee for the Defense of British Homes asking for guns to be donated as often and as soon as possible.
And in response, Hession sent his match-grade M1903 Springfield. Built in 1905, the bolt-action .30-06 had a 30-inch barrel and Stevens scope installed. A trophy and veteran rifle that had served him well, it was adorned with brass plates denoting its use in dozens of competitions.
Before it shipped to the UK along with over 7,000 other weapons collected, Hession added one more plate, one that simply read, “For obvious reasons the return of this rifle after Germany is defeated would be deeply appreciated.”
Hession himself, then in his 60s and retired from active duty, remained at his civilian job at Winchester and helped the war effort from there.
Sometime after Hitler was crushed the Hession rifle did come back home.
While the great rifleman passed in 1961, novelist Robert A. Heinlein, famous for Starship Troopers, later picked up the gun and even mentioned a similar ‘1903 in his work, Number of the Beast and it eventually ended up in the National Firearms Museum where it rests today.

i always find it amusing when politicians say they "are going to stand up to the NRA"........because what they are really saying is they "are going to 'stand up' to 7 million american citizens".......

Our little evening lighthearted local as well as beyond local entertainment show has been doing a special on the Caribbean over the last week.
Showing beautiful beaches and in each spot visited they have done a piece that has mentioned some charity or cultural aspect started by "former slaves".
No context given and I bet you a dollar 90 percent of the brain dead watching the show think these people ended up in Trinadad, Belize, what have you, after fleeing South Carolina post Civil War.

The argument was over one side believing that these rights were self evident and it would be absurd to put them to paper. Doing that might allow some tyrant in the future to mess or obliterate the language.
The other side believed that tyrants would not agree these rights were self evident and they had to be put to paper so as to be inviolable.
I think putting them to paper was the safer choice and we are lucky they did so because we see how they have to lie and say what is in plain language is not what we read it as.

I don't even try to have an actual conversation about firearms and firearm ownership with 90% of the family that is still in Germany. Other than my oma and oldest aunt, who are 'oldschool' Germans, the mentality I was raised under, the rest literally can't fathom freedom; it really is a foreign concept to them as well as pieces together how they willingly turned Germany into a socialist disaster within the last 15/20 years.
Most of the anti-freedom people are married into the family like cousins from a marriage, etc as my immediate blood family has always been extremely small. Regardless, I remember the last time I was there before the whole Trump election, it was always basically how Trump couldn't seriously be President because hes racist, mean, not a politician like Clinton, wants to throw people out of the country, wants to go to war, hates women, etc. They thought I was crazy when I explained to them that he was the end product of all of us being sick and tired of our bullshit self serving government as well as attempts to water down America into globalism and Trump was a giant fuck you to all of that. They thought I was insane and all that I wanted was for the US to cut Europe off and we wanted to be rich and close our borders and let the rest of the world rot or something. They didn't get it.
If it wasn't that, they all knew I had a lot of firearms and one was even dumb enough to tell me he didn't 'agree with going to war in Kosovo' 10 years after I was there and maybe that had something to do with me liking firearms. I told him that was a good way to get punched in the mouth (not blood related to me, so fuck him) and magically he never brought it up again, yet he always chimes in on the 'I can't believe they let you own guns' bullshit. It's hilarious how they talk about it; they are proud as fuck at how restricted they are. They think we're all running around with guns strapped to our backs in some sort of new wild west; you get into an argument and OMG they all have guns!! How can you feel safe???? They look at it from the exact opposite end that we do; restrictions are an achievement. Government control and restrictions are needed. Look at what we have, and you are lacking!
It's gotten to where I don't even try and explain, or rationalize with them about - don't you want to be free? Don't you value being able to not have to ask your government for permission to do fucking anything? Aren't you intelligent enough to make your own decisions, be responsible for your own actions and not have to have your entire life dictated to you? Nope - its an achievement to be this civilized! If you really feel you need to practice shooting, there are air rifle clubs here for that!

The only thing I can relate it to is basically stabbed yourself in the thigh with a giant knife and telling everyone around you now looking at you in horror, that this is what they all need to be doing because its the right thing to do and I am smarter than all of you for doing it. And then when no one does it, you berate them for being (fill in bullshit socialist buzz word insult here) and you are the only one smart, educated and culturally superior to know that this is what everyone should be doing.
