I haven’t really seen any talk of explorer case so I figure I’ll give my take on them. I picked up their extra long case 15416. I bought it used from a guy on the opposite side of the country. When it showed up, FedEx had managed to break on of the clips. I knew from the pictures the seller sent me that it didn’t go in the box that way but when I took it out it was busted. I shot off an email to explore and Doug there responded with is apologies and said it isn’t something that they stock but would order on immediately from Italy and ship it to me as soon as it arrived. I asked to be informed when it was state side so I could keep an eye out for it so it wouldn’t get lost in the mail like so many other packages I’ve had lately. A couple weeks go by and Doug emails me that the latch and new pin are in and that he’ll ship first thing the next business day. Latch showed up and I replaced easily. Doug made sure that I was satisfied with the way things were handled, and they were.
I’ve been really liking the case. I got this one for my 375 because it’s 56” long with the 33” barrel and brake. The 15416 is a bit over 60” inside. It’s a heavy case coming in at about 23-24lbs but that’s to be expected. The pluck foam inside is 2 layers thick and once I decide on the stuff that will all be in there, I’ll get it all set up. It will close tightly with the rifle just laid in there though. It’s a bit higher priced than some but less than others in the really large sizes. Over all, I’ll be buying other cases from explore in the future.
