Gunsmithing Extracting set screw in Leupold M3 Turret?!

Re: Extracting set screw in Leupold M3 Turret?!

I'm going to go see what I can find at the store tomorrow, but was wondering about Leupold as well.

Are they really good about repairs? timely?

Is it still on the turrent? Forgive my stupid thought, but just checking. Mine began to strip out while mounted, then I used a slightly larger wrench before it was to gone to work. Dont know if that may work.

I quickly replaced the set screws with some good steel ones from the hardware store, never had a problem since.

My next guess is try one of the torx head drivers, set it in so it can get some grip on it. Use a little amount of thread penetrating lube to aid that set screw out.

Sorry man, the whole thing just sucks. Feel for ya!

Sending it in to Leupold would be the smart thing to do - which is why I'm unlikely to go down that path.

If you can't find a Torx bit that will fit tightly, then find a small EZ-out. I bet it'd also spins right out upon hitting it with a left-handed twist drill bit.
