I do not reload but have a friend who does and he said he would be willing to teach me once he gets his move finalized. My AR has always shot the American Eagle AR .223 varmint tips 50gr (original version, black box) very well. They discontinued it and I would love to be able to duplicate that round. Is there anyway to find out the specs of that load? Or at least close to it ?

No, commercial ammo makers use powder we cannot acquire.

But you can duplicate by buying the same bullet, federal brass, federal primers and try a few powders like Benchmark, BL-C, Tac, RE15. You will find one of those will give you the same or better results than the factory ammo your trying to duplicate.

Thank you Padom. What do you think Federal may have changed with the new AE VT 50gr ? it has the same part number, but it does not shoot the same, not just for me, but for many others as well. The bullet looks the same though, could it be the powder?

I have shot thousands of rounds of Ae223gtv which your referencing. The best load I have come up with to match or exceed its accuracy is as follows.
Lc brass
450 cci primer
25.6 gr ramshot xterminator
50 gr vmax bullet seated to 2.250”

This particular load will have better sd and more muzzle velocity than the ae 50gr tipped varmimt.
