I have conversions for my AI AXMC in both calibres, but don’t reload yet & was wondering if others could recommend a good factory ammunition for target shooting in 243 Win & 7mm Rem Mag? I’m leaning towards Hornady atm.

1. Hornady precision hunter for the 7 mag.
2. HSM loads Bergers for both.
3. Nosler trophy grade or custom line with the accubond or accubond long range.
4. Copper Creek for 243 match ready to go and pet load quality. They can make you a good 7mm custom load as well but it will cost more. But you get what you pay for in today's world.
As the saying goes. You pay shit you get shit.

Hint: if you buy a big enough order from copper creek they might throw you a little discount. And it's stuff you could take to a competition match and know the quality/consistency is there for the longer shots.

[h=1]I’ll definitely give the Hornady Precision Hunter 7mm Rem Mag 162 gr a go, but unfortunately I’m in Australia and can’t get cooper creek for the 243. Any other suggestions for the 243?[/h]

Hornady Superformance 95gr or Barnes vortex ttsx... I don'the really target shoot much with my 243. Those are the two best grouping hunting loads I found. My 243 hates everything else. They are great for deer sized game if you decide to hunt with your 243.

I can't speak to the 243 but I have had very good luck with HSM loadings in 7mmRM. They offer a 7mmRM with 180gr Bergers that I have had great success with. Works good as target ammo too.

I'm thinking of trying Lapua 243 FMJ 90gr factory ammunition. Does anybody have experience with it?
Otherwise I'm looking at the federal 243 win, but I'm unsure about it's accuracy for matches.

Man, you're gonna get raped shooting that stuff. As mentioned the Hornady precision hunter for the 7mm but there's no real great 243 match ammo out there, it's really a reloaders cartridge. You'd be much better off picking up a 6mm Creedmoor barrel and shooting the factory Hornady match ammo for it. The extra barrel cost will be negated real fast when talking about cost between Hornady and Lapua ammo. Save your 243 barrel for until you start loading or sell it off to offset the cost of the new barrel.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll eventually get into reloading, but are just looking for the best factory ammunition in 243 for the short term. Unfortunately Cooper Creek & Black Hills are not available here, but there is no problem getting Federal, Hornady & Lapua etc. Please keep the suggestions coming.

Currently looking at either:

Federal Premium Vital-Shok Ammunition 243 Winchester 95 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tip
or
Lapua Ammunition 243 Winchester 90 Grain Full Metal

Anyone used either or hazard to guess which is more accurate?
