A friend has a long action Rem 700 DM (factory detachable mag) in 300 WM in great condition, maybe 20 rounds through it, for a steal of a price. I’m interested in it for pretty much the receiver only, plan is to send it out for a rebarrel and put it in a Manners stock with detachable bottom metal/AICS mags if I pick it up. I thought that I remember reading that the DM series of rifles were weaker due to the amount of material that was removed to fit the factory style magazines? Am I just making stuff up or is there some truth to this?
