I remember hearing many times long ago that the impossible, only takes a little longer. Everything that was laughable in the Buck Rogers shows long ago has been made possible an mostly much, much better. When Star Track, first came out the same things were said, only thing missing is the Transporter as the clocking devices, should hit main stream soon.
