Rifle Scopes Falcon 4-14 on a Tikka?

I took my rifle to the range today to sight in my new Falcon 4-14 and try out some new 208 Amax loads. Fired the first round, cycled the bolt. No ejection. Huh? This rifle has never had ejection problems. 2nd round. Brass rattles around and comes to rest on top of the magazine.

Turns out the brass is hitting the windage knob and bouncing back on top of the magazine.

I'm using EGW 20 MOA base, Burris XTR low rings. Have any of you had this problem? I'm guessing I may have to go to medium rings and build up under my stock pack for cheek weld, but I'm not thrilled about that option. Any ideas?

Is your scope level? All my tikkas have always ejected the brass out at 90 degrees, mmaybe just slightly up. But I am not using low rings though neither. Just sounds odd.

Scope is perfectly level (feeler gauge method). This is the first scope I've ever had that caused problems with ejection, but the knobs are BIG. I had a pair of Med. rings sitting around and that fixes it, but I'm not wild about the cheek weld at all. With the meds. on there the brass is clearing by close to 1/4" so I know it's not much of an interference. I might try having the windage knob turned down a bit. Rather do that than sacrifice cheek weld.

When I spoke w/ Tom he said there's a .100" cutout in the top of the comb for the bolt. I'm guessing that put's it up roughly a 1/4" inch? If so, it may be fine when I get my Manners w/ med. rings. It just looks like an aircraft carrier with it way up there!

Well, I mocked it up with different thickness shims under the picatinny to see how high I'd have to raise the scope to clear flying brass. .100" seems to work. Brass still hits the knob, but at least clears the chamber every time.

So the next question is: does anyone make a decent set of tactical rings that are between Burris XTR lows (.25 top of rail/bottom of scope) and XTR med. (.50 top of rail/bottom of scope)? I did a brief search but some companies do not clearly list their measurements. If I could get a set of rings that were .375", might be the best of both worlds.

Thanks for that help. Scott at Liberty Optics carries Seekins and they increment .050" for each ring height, so I will be able to get real close without goosenecking any worse than necessary.

He's about 15 miles from me, so I will try to hook up with him this week. If that falls through I will be in touch.
