So after the 5-25's being out for a while and seemingly that there are some issues that still come up with them, for the most part they seem to work well.

My question is to you guys have have looked through both in low light as to is the 56 any more noticeably brighter than the 50? Don't have the patience to wait for the PST anymore and don't have the cash for the IOR 6-24. So I am settling so I can get the mil/mil down pat for when I have the $ to make the leap. Not to mention one would be going on my rifle used for hunting and the other on the kids since she wants to shoot some long range comps along with IDPA next year.

Re: Falcon 50&56

The sight pic is fine on both, you cant tell a difference. After about 17x or 18x mag, the glass starts going dark anyways. At 25x you have to be out in a very bright day to use it.

Re: Falcon 50&56

You may be disappointed if you're going to use it for hunting.

I had a Falcon 4-14 and it was flat inadequate in low light. Terrible.

My shooting partner has a 5-25 and it's worse.

It really would be great if Vortex would get those PST's to market. I know I'm in the minority here, but I think they should have shipped them and retrofit the fix to those who actually noticed or cared. I've read enough comments now from users who say "what problem?" that I think this would have been a better solution. BTW, I'm NOT a Vortex basher. Quite the opposite. I bought a Razor and LOVE it.

Just curious... do you hunt? Have you hunted with your Falcon? Have you tried to identify an animal in brush as a doe or a buck just before legal light?

I do. I have. And I'm saying that the Falcon Menace 4-14 I had was not just poor, it was useless unless turned all the way down to 4x and then marginal.

The 5-25x50 my partner has is an adequate scope for shooting steel out to 1500 yds, but only in fairly bright conditions and then better on 20x. It's a great entry level high-mag FFP scope. Lots of features. Marginal optics.

These scopes a dicey at best for hunting.

Re: Falcon 50&56

All I was saying is that I liked mine, and that the review stated it had plenty of visibility. Here is a quote from my link
"
At the range the scope performed very well with easy focusing on the various targets at different ranges and in different light conditions. We took it out on an early morning with overcast skies and the scope performed very well with light gathering as I indicated above. The temperature was about 25 degrees Fahrenheit. The adjustments were also easy to use and read; though the knobs probably don't have quite as good a gripping surface as some of the other large style knobs, perhaps a few more serrations to give smaller knurled sizes would do that trick. The adjustments were precise in all the shooting exercises we performed. Shooting the box showed excellent repeatable adjustments and I could not find any real fault with the scope. I even fired a box test at different magnifications between 8x and 18x at the different points on the box, with excellent results. It appears that repeatability is very good on the adjustments and magnifications on this test scope." Not trying to be disagreeable but I am not the only one who likes the scope, but I will admit it is no S&B but for the price it is a good scope. And yes I have hunted with it but I primarily hunt with my hunting rig not my tactical one.

Re: Falcon 50&56

Thank you guys I appreciate the feedback. I know that I am settling for the optic right now but because of $ I will have to wait until next year before I can afford a better optic.
