While messing with tracking... I have the scope clamped to a board that has a boresight on it. This way neither can move in relation to eachother and tracking can easily be measured...

Right now I have the scope zero'd on mechanical center.

I used to think I had a lot more adjustment than I did when I was counting knob clicks. However, while looking through the boresighter I learned that on far up and far right, I don't move... so I based mechanical center not on the knobs but between the points that the reticle is actually capable of moving to.

I don't think this would really be a problem seeing as it leaves me with a little more than what they said for total adjustment range.

One thing I found out of curiosity is that on the bottom end of the elevation adjustment when I gently wiggle the turret side to side my reticle does a small arc.

It seems to have an issue tracking sometimes when going left... over 3 mils and I can see it being as much as 0.1 mil off... Every other direction seems to be fine.

Basically, should I have the scope checked out by someone?

[edit] Oh, and when I gently squeeze the turrets into the scope body using my thumb and index finger, I can actually move the crosshair about 1 mil, unless it's bottomed out already.

[edit 2]

I just set it up to do some tracking tests at around 100 yards... I clamped the scope into a gun vise on a tripod and aimed it at things such as stop signs, tree branches etc...

Tests showed that adjusting windage to the left showed 0.1mil error w/ 3 mils adjustment, 0.2mils @ 4mils, and 0.3mils at 5mils... each time when returning adjustment back to zero I came right back to where I was to start with.

Elevation test passed with satisfactory results.

BTT

I made a video showing the error, I have the scope securely clamped to a tripod and have situated it so that there is a vertical branch at 5 mils right (in other words, 5 mils adjustment to the left should be needed)

I adjusted exactly 5 mils left, and the crosshairs overshot by an adjustment or two... then I adjusted back to zero to show it returns just fine.

The video is rushed because the camera allows only 15 seconds to record video in this 'high quality'.

Is this 'acceptable', or should it be returned?
