Has anyone owned/used both of these scopes? If so how did they compare as to quality of image. adjustments and general finish?

Rifle Scopes Falcon Menace VS Vortex Viper

Not even close in my book! I had a Falon 4.5-18 and it was okay. The glass was pretty good but it got a little hazy at the edges on max power. The eye relief was pretty bad especially on max power. The turret clicks were not real precise and were very mushy. The Vortex Viper 6.5-20 on the other hand is a great scope! The fit and finish is excellent. Glass is clear edge to edge all the way to max power. The clicks are crisp and precise. I'd take the Viper any day over the Falcon! If I had to find something that I didn't like very much about the Viper was that the reticle was a little too thick for my liking. Other than that, it was perfect!

+1, I have to agree. The Viper gets my vote over the Falcon any day.

+1, I have to agree. The Viper gets my vote over the Falcon any day.

Agree with all of the above. I had a $300 or so Falcon, sold it. I bought a $99 Vortex to use for a couple weeks until my "real scope" came in. I'll tell you what, that $99 Vortex kicks some serious ass for the money.
I'm not sure I'd use the reticle to really mil anything and the clicks were a little mushy, but for $99 it was better than several $200-$400 scopes I've owned.
I'm VERY excited to see the Viper PST when it's available, I think it's going to be the best thing going for under $1k.
Agree with all of the above. I had a $300 or so Falcon, sold it. I bought a $99 Vortex to use for a couple weeks until my "real scope" came in. I'll tell you what, that $99 Vortex kicks some serious ass for the money.

Yep, I just picked up the Viper for $495 BNIB to go on....well let me see.....oh, I forgot, I have no rife!
All joking aside, it is a great optic for the money and Jason is probably right, the new PST is most likely going to be one, if not the best offering for under a grand.

If the PST's are as good as I think they're gonna be, some other optics companies are gonna have to do some price adjusting to compete!! I can't wait for mine to come in!!

Thank you for the input Gentlemen. I just ordered a 6.5-20X40 from Vortex and and preordered a 1-4 from SWFA. In case you did'nt notice the Vortex has the older 6.5-20X40 and 6.5-20X50 for $80 less than other places. This lower price came about when the listed the new models.
War Dog; I like your photo. My Son was a dog handler/MP. He captured three escaped POW in two different cases in Iraq. He was also at Gitmo. I got a kick out of his creds. The dogs creds are behind his in a wallet/holder. My son was an E5 and the dog was an E6. Both are considered MPs. However. the ranking MP ,(according to regs) is responsible for incidents. Having the dog outrank the handler protects the handler if the dog gets out of line. When the handler gets a promotion so does the dog. My son is out now and going to school. But he just adopted a retired Sherpard K9 from the local SD inorder to give a retired cop a good home.
