Movie Theater Fantastic Mr. Fox

Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox

Roald Dahl seems to have understood children better than most parents and it's quite obvious looking at the lasting popularity of his books.

We can't all have the last name Dostoevsky.

I try to limit my literary works so as not to embarrass myself.

Caught it this past weekend. Wes Anderson definitely left his stamp on it, which in this case was mostly a good thing. The animation and voice acting were both generally very good. Michael Gambon was particuarly good playing the baddie.

Overall a good, mostly light piece of entertainment. Not mindblowingly good, but better than most the drek I end up watching.

Re: Fantastic Mr. Fox

the wifey got this one for family night with the kids and i never imagined i would like it so much. admittedly, i'm a big wes anderson fan, but didn't realize it was his film until the credits.

course, after watching it again, there were definately some of the same, ever-present archetypes found throughout anderson's films, but that actually made it more enjoyable for me. it added an adult flavor and intelligence to the film.

i always enjoy when mature themes are subtly/tastefully placed into animated films. it makes the flick a pleasurable experience for adult and child alike, without those uncomfortable moments of inappropriateness.

bottom line, this film is great! it's a smart and witty comedy with very likable characters. don't let the animation turn you off, if anything, it only adds to the humor and story.
