So, lets say you had a Tikka m695 laying around in .270 win. It's a full rifle with synthetic stock. What would you do if you had about $1500 to play with on the rifle and you wanted to build a true long range HUNTING rifle. Weight has to be at or under 9.5lbs and can have whatever barrel, trigger, etc. What caliber would you choose...favorite load? and then you can spend about $750 extra on a scope. What would you get? have fun.

sell the rifle, save up a couple hundred more dolars, and call shawn carlock with defensive edge gunsmithing. Shawn's the one who designed and deveolped the .338 edge. Buy his sheep hunter. Get a true long range hunting rifle, built to be that from the ground up. Then, watch the classifieds here for a good piece of glass in your price range. you could easily get a luepy or IOR in that range. in the mean time, start gathering reloading stuff. you will have what you want, from a guy who builds and uses rifles for what you want to go.

Just my 2 cents
