Re: federal fusion, high pressure signs

Ummm... check your firing pin... it may be messed up on the tip. As an aside reloading Fusion/ DeepCurl bullets require special data.

Important Reloading Data

DeepCurl's unique construction process joins the jacket to the core at the molecular level for excellent performance and consistency. For this reason, conventional reloading data developed for standard jacketed bullets should not be used to load DeepCurl™ bullets. Only DeepCurl specific reloading data released by Speer® Bullets should be used. It can be found here at www.speer-bullets.com in the reloading data pages or by contacting Speer Technical Services at 866-286-7436.

Re: federal fusion, high pressure signs

Well, I can't say much besides the factory ammo (tight headspace? hot lot of powder?)

but now I know my over pressure signs don't look like over pressure compared to those cases!!! now I know what over pres looks like!

Re: federal fusion, high pressure signs

68 degrees under shade cover, so no
head space is good, checked it with a go gauge
here is the deal, bolt is new, bolt carrier and firing pin are from my 308 LR all I did is swap bolts, so firing pin is good, bolt is new and no defects, head space is good, if you look at the Fed Fusion ammo out of the ones fired not all of them had issues, but over 50% did leading me to believe poor quality control .

it is possible but i doubt it, the ammo would have been hot to the touch to see changes like that.

Re: federal fusion, high pressure signs

you shot all of them? maybe you can take one apart and check the amount of powder in it, just to see if that lot perhaps was a little hot.
