I see that Federal is now offering OTM bullets in the 77g lineup. (Or at least new to me)

From an accuracy standpoint, is there any difference in Federals 77g SMK vs their 77g OTM loads?

I need to buy 400 rnds for an upcoming class and from what I have seen the OTM are a little cheaper.

The difference can only be seen if you try both and find out. I'm sure you know already some guns like some ammo better then others. How far out are you going to be using go? Ive had decent luck with AAC 77gr OTM out to about 600 anything past that they kinda get inconsistent.

I second the above.... If im concerned with groupings a sample of loadings and see what the rifle likes. For example, my 6.5 PRC loves Hornady 143s and 147s as well as Berger 156 OTMs. Similarly, the Barnes it does not like as much as even less so with the Norma. All put up decent groups but saw only small vertical changes in the Hornady (147s were about 1 moa low of the 143s) and Berger (just over 1 moa down compared to the 143s) and saw 4-6 moa lateral shift in the other with the barnes shifting up about 1 moa as well. For 556, ive found the frontier to be affordable but very inconsistant MV to the tune of 300 fps difference. I have had decent luck with the Sig OTMs. I personally am still searching for a good ammo for that rifle.
