OK I am putting togather a parts list for the 6.5 CM build I am starting.

I ordered a 22" black hole barrel with 1/8 twist and double fluting in medium profile. THis is going to be a hunting rifle from fixed positions mostly. As well as a plink out to a 1000 rifle.

I had the barrel threaded for the use of a suppressor at a later date. Right now I am debating on what to use to protect the threads that will best serve my purposes. I am going to be using it hunting and the 6.5 round does not produce that much recoil so I am ruling out a break. I thought about doing a linear comp but have read about primer piercing issues with this setup and thought a linear may just worsen that. I do however plan on a Adjustable gas block so that may be a non issue.

What do you guys think of something like the griffin armament flash comp?
7.62 Flash Comp 5/8x24

I am going to be shooting from a blind a lot of the time and just need to keep noise directed away from me and someone filming the best I can And I would like the benefits of a comp, for follow up shots.

What would the gang here recommend? Am I searching for a unicorn?

SEI Vortex works well, goes on hand tight, and doesn't negatively affect accuracy. It can be easily removed / replaced if cleaning the crown is desired.

That being said, the basic A2 birdcage works fine considering the relatively low cost.

Just hand tight with the Vortex. No crush washer needed. Timing is not necessary.

Instructions indicate 5 to 10 ft-lbs of torque. It will self-tighten appropriately when the weapon is fired due to the angle of the flutes.

I wouldn't use anything on the threads, other than to make sure that they're clean.

Go with a comp. A FH is useless unless you shoot at night and with NVG's.

The flashcomp is one of the BETTER comps out there. Get whatever will match with your can down the road. If your going thread on suppressor, any cheap comp should be decent. The Spikes Dynacomp .308 is a decent sub $100 comp that is equal in performance to the battlecomp.

Ive used the Vortex in the past and its decent, but does little for comp and SEI is run by a fucking prick. I wouldn't give them a cent of my money seeing how they treat their customers and making bullshit claims about their "vast" government contracts.
