Went to range a couple hours drive away last weekend to stretch the legs on a Ruger precision in 300 WinMag.
Vortex Venom 5-25x56mm and Accu-Tac Bipod on the ARCA rail.
No rear rest.
The rain was steady after the 4hour long orientation and safety training ended at 1pm and I could shoot.
6C, about 43F and 15mph wind.
Federal Premium Gold Medal, 190gr.

5 shots, 100m.

200m was fairly simple to find on paper.

Climbing to find 300m.
I could not see the hits on the white part of paper.
Note to self, next time overlap dark paper for 200+, sight-ins.

Once I hit black, I fired off 10 in a row in rapid succession as I needed to get back on the highway to go home.
I am confident the RPR will hold 4-5" groups @300m for me on a good day, probably an inch better if I use a rear sand bag rest.
I had to sit on my coat and hoodie to see through the scope, even with the BiPod legs set at a 30* angle.
Safety glasses were fogging up big time so that is another excuse and room for improvement.
I've since bought anti-fog wipes that work well.
Next time, I'll use a rear bag rest or my Caldwell LeadSled2 rest with 25# on it (but that will make it too easy I think), gotta stay focused on the breathing if I want to improve.

Overall, the Ruger Precision is now my favorite, along with a Savage Model 110 on MDT Chassis in 223 and Savage Model 10 on MDT Chassis, 308.

Once you start using a rear bag, a good portion of that vertical spread will fade away if you do your part.

What scope mount did you use? Just got the RPR and have same size scope with 34mm tube.

Hi, just saw this post.
I have forgotten (Vortex, Leupold, ???) but will pull the gun out this weekend and have a look.
Congrats and enjoy!
Excellent setup!

Ok, found this thread again...
Pulled the gun out today for shooting tomorrow.
Unfortunately, no markings on the rings, but I believe they are Leupold Medium.
95% of my rifles have scopes so it's hard for me to remember the ring makers.
Here's some pics, hope they help.

Thank you! I appreciate it. My scope has the sun shade that attaches to it and the end still touches the barrel for some reason by 1/16” (or less) so I’m just going to have to find a 1 piece mount or higher rings. Thanks again!!

No problem, my pleasure.
I have the sunshade on the scope as well.
And yes, it does come very close to the barrel but does not touch.
It's in the safe now but I'm guessing the clearance is around 3/8" tops!
I'll be in the safe again Saturday for Trap gun, will take a quick measurement if it helps.
