First hand loads through my 300 win mag. Group D was 76.2gr of H1000 under a 220gr ELDX with a federal GM215M primer. Each group was 5 rounds except group A which had a primer fall out of one round. The flyer on D may have been user error as well. Group C was not liked by my rifle and not worth a pic. I also posted this to the reloading subreddit group A was a starting load of 71.3gr of H1000. Ogive measured at 2.830” +/- .001”-.002” @ .030” of the lands. COAL measured at 3.475”.

Nice work. 76.2 must be a magic number for 220ish class bullets...

Mine also likes 76.2 pushing a 225 ELDM.

What brass are you using?

ETA: looked closer and saw the Federal brass.

I’m using Hornady brass. The federal brass were just a few pre group rounds to get an idea on where it was printing on the paper.

I use 74.7 grains of Retumbo to get 3000 ft/sec from Berger 200.20x Hybrid Targets ... lots of 1-mile hits with this recipe.
Ya, once I get the load really dialed in I’m gonna chrono it. I’m figuring I should be somewhere in the ballpark of 2750-2800. Maybe a touch more.

Depending on your barrel length you may be pleasantly surprised...

76.2 gr of H1000 was pushing 225's at an average of 2846 out of my 26" barrel on a 64°F day... I know folks say H1000 is temp stable... And it is MORE temp stable than others. But you'll see a bit of variance with temperature.

You may be up in the 2850-2900 range with 220's... Again, depending on your barrel length.

I'll be interested to see how they chrono. Let us know please.

Ya, mine is a 24” fluted heavy barrel. The rifle is a Savage 110 Tactical. That’s very interesting on your velocity as well. If I hit 2800fps I’d definitely be happy. I had thought about doing the 225ELDM before as well, but withwith loading 220 subs in my 300blk it just makes sense.

300 WM
H1000 with 220/230/215
H4831 with 200’s
Reloader 22 with 190’s and easier on your throat than 220’s SMK
IMR 4831 with 180s/175s
IMR 4350 or IMR 4831 with 165/168
IMR 4350 with 150/155
You can bump up powder charges with IMR if you use WLR primers in WW cases.
