    Evening All,

New member, and I am looking into my first LR rig, in 260 Rem or 6.5x47. I have experience shooting an A4 out to 500, but want to extend my skills a little more and get into some competitions eventually.

I at first wanted to build my own rig using a 700 SA as a base, and if I go that route, can you all give me suggestions on barrel choice, rate of twist, length, and etc? It will more then likely end up in a McMillan stock, and topped with a NF scope.

On the flip side though, I was advised by a gentleman who shoots competitively to save up for a used rig on here, and I wanted some input on just what I should look for in a used rig if I do go that route.

    Thanks All,

    A.J.

I got ya. I bought a McMillan A5 and love it. They are expensive, and the wait is lengthy, but I do like the stock. I would also say play around with other stocks and see what feels good to you if you haven't already.
