I'm buying my first precision rifle after years of buying and shooting AR's. I have been lurking on this form for a couple days and have noticed there is a lot of good advice and experience on this forum. There are three rifles I have been looking at and I will be getting on of the three. The first rifle is the kimber 8400 Advanced Tactical .308(Tan w/Desert color McMillan stock and leupold M3). I am able to buy this rifle at a discounted price through my work and would appreciate any opinions on it. My second option is a Remington 700 SPS .308 20" threaded for surefire adapter, McMillan A5 and leupold Mark 4 L/RT M2 3.5-10X40mm and my third option is an FN A5 M SPR in .308 a with 20" barrel with a leupold mark 4 L/RT M2 3.5-10x40mm. I'd love to here your opinions.

Re: First precision rifle, Opinions?

Ive never had a precision rifle, so I wouldnt go by my word.

If it was me, I would choose the Remington 700 sps.
But thats me.

Remington 700 series either PSS, XCR, or SPS. Do a little search on Kimber here on this site. It may surprise you.

What are you going to shoot? Paper, varmints, and at what distance? The more you learn here, you may decide to go a different caliber, or gun.
For punching paper out to 400yds I am currently shooting a Savage .308 with Mcmillan stock, Acutrigger model. I am very pleased with the way it shoots, But............Because of this forum I now hava a Remington 700 5R .308 on the way.
The drug we call shooting is very addictive and very expensive, it will make you sell your prized possessions and even make you consider stealing from the wife's purse LOL.
Enjoy and keep learning. SScott
