When I pulled the factory barrel the receiver face has this knick in it. Ive take .002” off. Should I remove material until its gone. Or call it good?

Also how much runout is ok? Ive got 0.0005 runout. Is that good.

I'd run it.

Did you measure before the cut?

I wouldn't worry about less than a .001, but I'm not a professional.

Big thing for me would be lug surfaces. Make sure they're true and in the same plane. I've seen receivers so bad 1 lug wasn't even touching.

Agreed. No need to take off more face material for a small knick when you'll have 99+% contact, and you know it's squared with a runout of 0.0005". Just make sure your contact surfaces, and lug are perfectly flat (deck it with a mill if you have to), and work accordingly with your measurements. 👍🏼

If I was doing it for a customer I would take it down just enough until the surface was uniform. You will have plenty of tenon length especially if you use an oversized lug. As it is won't have any effect on performance. I just know that someone would eventually remove the barrel and think I may have done a shoddy job. If it was my personal rifle I wouldn't be concerned with it.

Thanks Chase. Is the runout acceptable?
