my grandfather decided that he'd get each one of his grandsons an m1a rifle their senior year of highschool. i'm the last one left and it's my senior year. my grandfther was dignosed with cancer last year and lost his arm to it. while he is now hppily residing with all of his family now, he can no longer shoot rifles like he used to. when my turn came around he handed me n old fvorite of his; his m1a supermatch (less that 1000 down the tube). the budget for my grad gift from my dad is around $700. i think that is enough to kit it up so my papa can see his old rifle the way he wanted it and i can finally move past the range of my ar15! i'm tired of lurking around here.
heres what i figgure:
$300- super sniper 10x , pretty basic but should work well
~$250 mount. sadlak? smith? which one?
~$80 rings... which ones
$60 karsten cheek piece. (the rifle is bedded in a g.i. stock. i'll get a mcmillan when i can afford it)
the plan was originally to get bolt gun to get started with lr shooting but now that i have what i have i may as well run what i've been handed. i'm not expecting better than 1moa accurcy. should get me out to 800 or so. if anyone has advice on mount/ring choice or knows where the best prices are to be had on some of the items on listed i'd pprecite hering it.
thnks,
