I hate the location of the elevation indicator arrow on my Schmidt's, since they are on a different plane than the surface of the turret markings.

This causes a parallax effect that makes the marks look to be in a different location depending on which eye you use to adjust the elevation. It can change the apparent location of the mark by 1/2-3/4 mil or so. Most people just offset the marks to the side to compensate, but I am nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other, and it messes with me.

Is it nitpicky and stupid? Probably, but that's the way I am.

Anyway, I had a few extra hours to spend, so I fixed it.

EDIT TO ADD: Just thought of this also, you guys that have the MTC turrets that the marks don't line up properly on the full Mil marks, this is a way to fix them.

First, get out the needle files and make one of these.....

Then you Aluminum Black it and then paint it flat black, then buff the black off the face of the arrow.
A tiny dab of black silicone holds it in place, it fits tight anyway.

Tagging this thread to keep an eye on this project. I too have a S&B. My rifle is down in the vault. How did you mount this? I don't recall how mine is setup.

ok, with the before pics added I see the advantage, thanks for posting OP. I do have to recheck my S&B turret setting occasionally due the ergonomics, and this would help. Be interesting to machine a small batch of these and sell them here on the hide.

I have no interest (or the equipment) to make more than the few I made personally.

But if anyone else would want to do it, they can have the idea freely and make them.

So what's the downside here? Can it come loose under heavy use? Maybe bind up the turret?

Don't see how, it's set in silicone rubber. Nothing can really touch it as far as bumping it.

I could get a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it off (with turret removed) if I wanted to, I guess.

The turret clearances are too tight to allow anything that big to get inside.

Pretty foolproof, I think. Even if it somehow came loose and fell out, the turret would still work fine.
